FED:No Aussies harmed in Vanuatu quake

Authorities are confident no Australians have been harmed by an earthquake off Vanuatu.

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake hit the Pacific island yesterday .. generating a small tsunami
and sending thousands of frightened people running for the hills.

Foreign affairs minister STEPHEN SMITH says all Australian government workers .. their
relatives and dependents are safe.

Authorities are checking on other Australians.
