WA:WA man charged with attempted murder

PERTH, Dec 30 AAP - West Australian police have charged a 32-year-old man with attempted
murder after he allegedly tied up his former housemate, doused her with petrol and set
her on fire.

The man from Beckenham, in Perth's southeast, allegedly tied up the 29-year-old Chinese
woman, who is an Australian citizen, inside her Cannington home last Wednesday before
setting her on fire.

She received serious burns to 60 per cent of her body and is in Royal Perth Hospital
in a critical condition.

The man will appear in court on Saturday.
